FAMIMOVE is back! – FAMIMOVE 3.0 starts on 1 March 2026

FAMIMOVE 3.0 is an international project co-funded by the European Commission under the JUST-2025-JCOO program. The project’s full name is Families on the Move: The Coordination between international family law and migration law.

This project seeks to build on the results of FAMIMOVE 2.0 by focusing on children on the move in vulnerable situations and by consolidating the networks already established of experts in family law, child protection and migration law. It involves 7 universities in 6 EU Member States.

The duration of the project is two years from 1 March 2026 to 29 February 2028.

Revue Critique de droit international privé – issue 2023/3

The third issue of the Revue critique de droit international privé of 2023 will be released shortly. It contains a thematic dossier of five articles, as well as several case notes.

The doctrinal part of the volume is entirely devoted to the reflections arising from the symposium held at Université de Tours on January 6, 2023 about notarial practice in international family property law in the Ukrainian context. Under the direction of Dr. Fabienne Labelle (Université de Tours), it explores the role of the notarial profession in the development of private international law during the Ukrainian crisis

Conference on 8 December 2022: ‘Ukraine-Poland. The Choice of Law Aspects of War and Forced Displacement’

On December 8, 2022, under the patronage of, among others, the Consulate General of Ukraine in Cracow, the University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland) is hosting an international conference on the private international law aspects of forced displacement resulting from the current situation in Ukraine.

The conference focuses on Polish-Ukrainian relations and the bilateral agreement between those two States, but also addresses some more general issues related to the interplay between EU private international law and such agreements. In addition, some speeches will address the specifics of Ukrainian private international law.

EJN: Children from Ukraine — Civil Judicial Cooperation

The European Judicial Network on civil and commercial matters has just published information and resources relating to civil judicial cooperation in the context of children from Ukraine. The “Children from Ukraine — civil judicial cooperation” webpage is available on the e-Justice Portal in all EU languages and provides:

  • a summary of the legal rules that apply to judicial cooperation in cross-border cases involving Ukrainian children (i.e. questions of jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition of decisions, and cooperation between authorities);
  • relevant information on Ukrainian family law;
  • useful links and resources.

The information is intended for judges, lawyers, notaries, and central authorities, as well as child protection officials and others dealing with the registration of children arriving in EU Member States.
